Zoo

Week one of teaching down! It was definitely a learning experience and it is definitely going to take a little time to get used to but so far I love it. The kids are adorable and so happy to learn. But there is always that one kid that likes to cause a little trouble....meet Bosco. He likes to be a little crazy. Luckily Friday we were learning about animals and I let him be a dinosaur..apparently he likes dinosaurs....Ohhhh Bosco.
After school we come home and walk around the city or sleep. Teaching preschool is tiring! On Saturday we went to the zoo! (If you didn't notice from facebook...we like to take a lot of pictures. ALOT.) It took some time to get there but it was pretty cool! It started raining as soon as we got there(what else is new) which was okay  because that made it so it wasn't so hot! And in case you didn't see enough pictures..here's some more.
This may just look like another selfie. But there is a red panda in the background I promise.

And I used my first squatter! It wasn't that bad...(lies)

On the metro!

Turns out the joke is on us! We were really in the zoo not just there visiting..seriously there was a line of people to take pictures with us..we need to start charging. And if they don't come ask us for pictures we always catch people trying to sneak a few. Of course we see them so of course we pose. But really it's wierd. I don't get what's so cool about us!

After the zoo we went to dinner..it was quite the experience but hey, they had French fries..me and Kirsten can't pass up fries..don't worry we ate them with chopsticks to make it more Chinese...

Both of the groups! I sure do like these people.

Well after that long day we all were super lazy today. But me Clara and Kelita decided to go on a little adventure to downtown where we found Starbucks. I have never been so happy..I cried. Pathetic? Yes. Definitely. But I don't care it was amazing. It also cost me 34 yuan but that's beside the point.

Want to feel like a rockstar?

This week we have done a lot of exploring. We are trying to learn how to get around..that means taking on the bus system. Which can be pretty hard when you don't speak Chinese. But with the help of nice people trying to speak some broken English and a lot of pointing we made it! Sunday we went to wait for it...Walmart. It was huge. But sadly they didn't have the American food we were hoping for. Including diet coke. There isn't any dang diet coke in this country!! NONE. Trust me I have searched. Also on our journey to Wally-world. We realized...everyone stares. EVERYONE. When they say people will ask to take pictures with you/take super creeper pictures they weren't joking! I don't know what Chinese social media I'm floating around but I'm sure a few. Because people were already taking pictures we decided to give them a show. Let's just say if you see any videos of some Americans doing the hoedown throwdown..probably us.

Today (Tuesday) we went downtown and to walking street! Luckily we had our awesome coordinators to help us get around today so getting lost was not on the agenda. We also climbed this mountain to this.

It is 400 years old! That's real old.

This week was also the first week of teaching! We have had two days at the school and they have been CRAZY. Everyone is trying to get used to the new teachers and we are all trying to get the schedules worked out so it has just been a little hectic. But great. The kids are so cute and know a lot of English already! It's so fun and cool to see them catch on to some phrases.

Well that's all. If anyone(mom) wants to send some breakfast food or diet coke that would be cool. Because like

Man I wish I knew Chinese

After over 24 hours of planes, buses and trying to sleep in an upright position we made it!

The last few days we have spent getting settled and ready to teach! Yesterday we took a tour of the school we will be teaching and it was nice! The school is located in Shiqi which is a city in Zhongshan. We live about 20 minutes away from the school in Kaiyin. The weather is psycho. We are having a typhoon at the moment so all the sudden it will be pouring rain like really. We will walk outside and it will be like 700 degrees, walk inside and look out the window..pouring rain. Not just like the Utah pour. Like POURING.  Also this thing called humidity... should not exist. Seriously my hair looks like an 80's rocker chick. It's rough. And did you know everything in China is in Chinese? I also do not speak Chinese. So I bought this juice at the store last night.
I mean I sure hope it is juice. It says mango on it but really who knows. It was right next to the alcohol.. hopin for the best. But man. Really wish I knew Chinese..guess it is just all apart of the fun! Despite the humidity and the random rain storms I love this place! China is awesome. I am excited to meet the kids and start teaching on Monday! Also..this is what our toaster does...#onlyinChina

And I just had to throw this on because I got to see this girls face. She is pretty cool.
